UH's WDA will be volunteering at The Beacon Homeless Shelter. The Beacon is a non-profit organization that serves the Houston homeless community through daily services, civil legal aid, counseling and mentoring and access to housing. Our mission is to provide essential and next-step services to restore hope and help end homelessness in Houston.

We are having our Fifth general meeting on Tuesday, April 12th! The Zoom link will be posted in our Groupme. A representative from Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine will be speaking to us!

Fifth General Meeting (General Meeting)

WDA will be having a representative come to UH and give our members the course and test for CPR certification

The certification will be $30 which will go directly to the AHA

The Women's Dental Association will be at TMOM 
Prescreening April 8-9!
Clinic day April 29-30! 
Please read everything below VERY CAREFULLY. 

ONLY fill out this form if you have followed the steps below:
1. Went to https://tmomvolunteer.org/ and clicked on the April 29-30, 2022 TMOM event at Houston, TX. and/Or prescreening April 8-9, 2022
2. Created an account for the event as a COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER.
3. Selected and REGISTERED for either the Friday and/or Saturday AM and PM shifts. 
4. Received a confirmation email that you are able to attend.
- Please only attend with your family or guardians permission. If you are a registered dental assistant, you can sign up as a registered dental assistant as well. 

WHERE: Houston, TX

When: 
April 8 or April 9 
- 7am - 4pm
AND 
April 29 or April 30
- AM Shift: 5:30 AM - 12 pm
- PM Shift: 12 pm-5:30 PM

Dress code: Scrubs and closed-toe shoes (we will be receiving shirts)

OPTIONAL: We will be providing carpool services; carpoolers will receive extra points! 

Some more information about TMOM:
Texas Mission of Mercy (TMOM) is a mobile dental clinic that travels around the state providing charitable basic dental care to Texans with limited resources and/or access to care. Local community support along with dental and non-dental volunteers from across the state come together at the community’s venue. Up to 700 patients may be seen during the 2 day events depending upon the size of the clinic’s set up. Our volunteer dental professionals’ primary focus is on relieving pain and preventing infection by providing extractions, fillings, and cleanings. In limited cases, replacing missing front teeth or repairing partial dentures may be available to restore a smile.

TMOM (Volunteer Event)

UH's WDA will be going to UTSD's Pre-Dental Day on April 23rd! This event will be IN PERSON with mask required.

- Opportunity to network with current students and partake in a Q&A panel 
- Breakout sessions on what ASDA can do for you, life and friendships as a 1st year, reapplying to dental school, study tips, and time management
- Fun hands on activities

Attendance Fee:
- Non-ASDA members: $50
- National ASDA members: $40
         Note: You will pay $50 initially and will be refunded $10 after the event
